Are You Digital Media Kit(ing) Me?

I am writing this blog five days away from the end of the semester. It has been quite the journey converting to online school and changing the way I live my whole life; however, with all this being said, I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow in my Introduction to Public Relations class. This introductory class really covered a little bit of everything you might find in Public Relations.

This course of all things was centered around the Digital Media Kit project. At the beginning of the semester, my peers and I chose an organization on our campus. We worked to learn the ins and outs of that organization and how it benefits our campus and all the students that attend Missouri State University. With this information, we created our first digital media kits, specifically for these organizations.

Before this project and this course, I had never even heard of a digital media kit. Now I think, “Are you digital media kiting me? How could I live without them?” They are not only a great creative outlet full of useful information, but also a way to get large amounts of information out to essential people in the blink of an eye.

I chose to explore the Office of Student Success and Transition for my digital media kit. This is a program at Missouri State that offers programs such as peer leaders and aiding in first-generation students and incoming freshmen. There really does not seem to be much this center cannot do; however, I went years at Missouri State without ever hearing about the center or understanding what a crucial free tool it is for students. To me, this only proves how important these digital media kits really are to spreading an organization’s story.

I am feeling optimistic and encouraged that I will get to grow and perfect the art of the digital media kit as I continue on in my Public Relations career and education.
