Hello, World, It’s Me, Taylor.

Hello, world, it’s me, Taylor Williams. It is my senior at Missouri State.  I am majoring in English with a minor in communications; this minor is what lead me here. I’ve created this blog as a project for my Communications 309 class. Throughout the semester, I will be writing a series of blogs about various topics regarding public relations, so stay tuned!

I chose to attend school at MSU because I was born and raised in Springfield, MO and knew I wanted to stay close to home. However, after spending so much time in Springfield, I have decided to try and expand my horizons after graduation. To do this, I have focused my job search around the Austin and Dallas areas. I’m excited to begin new adventures in Texas. I’m not fond of the cold and love taking trips to the beach which is part of my motivation to move.

Currently, I am interning with a local non-profit, Watching Over Whiskers aka W.O.W. In the short time that I’ve taken on the role of being their intern, I have already begun to reap the rewards. I am allowed to explore my creative writing side while also learning so much about the business side of non-profit life and business communications. When I’m not at school or working for my internship, I am working as an after-school tutor for a Springfield Public Schools’ program for elementary students.

Outside of work and school, I have a pup named Gatsby.  He is a Miniature Schnauzer with a bad attitude, but I love him regardless. Gatsby and I enjoy taking long walks outside on the warmer days of the year and being in nature. Without Gatsby, I enjoy the HGTV channel and episodes of shows like This Is Us. This is my final semester of my undergraduate career, so it seems only right that it is also my busiest.  In the busyness of the semester, I also feel overwhelmed with a sense of optimism for where I will go and all I will learn.
